The 2005 La Guitarra California Festival on September 23 - 25, 2005 was dedicated to the memory of the previous Festival Director, Reed Gilchrist, and his many years of tireless work for the advancement of classical guitar music.

The La Guitarra California Festival has become one of the premier classical guitar fevents in the United States with ever increasing international recognition.

The 2003 Festival was a big success with participation by Lectures; Larry McPherson, Cindy Burton, Gregory Byers, Jeffrey Elliott, Armin Kely and Lester DeVoe, "What to look for in purchaseing a guitar",
The San Francisco Guitar Quartet, The Ahlert/Schwab Duo, Cem Duruoz, Ana Vidovic, Paul Gaibraith, Stuart Green, Jesus Saiz-Huedo, The Tolosa Strings, w/Reed Gilchrist, Ronn McFarlane, The Katona Twins, and Lily Afshar.
There were also 35 luthiers (guitar makers) displaying  their instruments and the famous Forderer Collection of Rare and Historic Guitars was on display.  The Forderer Guitar Collection is one of the worlds finest collections of rare and historical guitars - some of them are priceless.  And at our Festival you’re encouraged to pick them up and play them!

At every Festival there are four Master-classes.  These are two-hour classroom style classical guitar lessons conducted by the various guitarists that will also perform in concert.  Four to six students, of all ages, play individually for the Maestros and receive priceless coaching from the suggestions and critique of the Maestros.

The Master-classes are open to the public to view for the very reasonable price of $10.  Most of the students are from our local area and they receive invaluable instruction from the most accomplished guitarists in the world.

Some of the notable performers from the last three La Guitarra California Festivals are:
1999 - Lecturers; David Grimes and Dr. Craig Russell.  Guitarists; Antigoni Goni, James Edwards, Adam del Monte, Judicael Perroy, Kevin R. Gallagher and William Kanengiser (of the LAGQ).
